Wolverhampton RUFC is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. Wolverhampton RUFC believes that it is important that all members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open and honest at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with any committee member.
As a member of Wolverhampton RUFC, you are expected to abide by the following code of practice:
Children & Young People
- Be loyal and give friends a second chance
- Be friendly and welcoming to new players
- Be supportive and committed to other team members
- Keep yourself and others safe
- Report inappropriate behaviour
- Play fairly and be trustworthy
- Respect officials and accept decisions
- Be gracious in defeat and respect opponents
- Do not cheat or be violent/aggressive
- Behave and listen to all coaching instructions
- Take care of equipment
- Respect the rights of others regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability or sexual orientation
- Refrain from using bad language
- Do not get involved in inappropriate peer pressure
- Do not bully others
- Be prompt to training, games and events
- Wear suitable kit and safety equipment
- Pay any fees promptly
- Do not smoke, consume alcohol or use drugs of any description on the club premises or whilst representing the club elsewhere
Parents & Carers
- Positively reinforce your child
- Do not place your child under pressure to do activities against their wish
- Complete and return registration, medical and consent forms
- Deliver and collect your child promptly for training, games and events
- Ensure your child has appropriate clothing for all weather conditions and the necessary safety equipment
- Inform coaches of any changes to your child’s health at the soonest opportunity
- Behave responsibly on the side line
- Show appreciation and support for coaches
- Be supportive
- Accept the official’s judgement and do not enter the field of play
Coaches & Volunteers
- Ensure the safety of all children by providing effective supervision, planning and use safe methods at all times
- Treat all players fairly and ensure they all feel valued
- Do not allow any dangerous play, bullying or use of bad language/inappropriate behaviour
- Appreciate the efforts of all players
- Do not over-train players
- Be positive and approachable
- Never use sanctions that humiliate or harm any player
- Report any accidents or incidents
- Encourage team work
- Do not abuse any member in any way
- Do not engage in a sexual relationship with a young person whom you are responsible for
- Maintain confidentiality
- Be a role model
- Refrain from smoking and consuming alcohol during activities and coaching
- Never condone the use of prohibited substances
- Hold the appropriate qualifications which are valid and in date
- Make rugby fun
Senior Members
- Pay all fees/membership and return all registration, medical and consent forms promptly
- Ensure you are prompt for training, games and events
- Be respectful of all other members and staff
- Be supportive to others
- Do not use or condone the use of drugs on the club premises or whilst representing the club elsewhere
- Do not abuse any other member in any way
- Report concerns and incidents
- Support the club and club events whenever possible
- Look after equipment
- Respect officials and their decisions
- Welcome new players and members
- Engage with the club as a whole including mini/junior teams and other senior teams
Any minor misdemeanours and general misbehaviour will be dealt with immediately and reported to the committee. Serious or persistent breaches of the code of conduct will result in disciplinary action and could lead to dismissal from the club and membership revoked.
Disciplinary actions may be appealed to the committee no more than twice by the individual. However, final decisions taken by the committee will not be eligible for appeal.
